Word of Life was founded in 1980 by Pastors Ronnie and Paige Sims. What began with a vision to help people know God and grow in their faith led to several moves before the church established its first permanent home on Highway 18 West in Jackson, Mississippi, in 1991.

In the late 1990s, God began opening the door for an even greater vision. A 65-acre property on Highway 25 in Flowood became the future home for what would become our central campus. But just as construction was beginning in April 2001, Pastor Ronnie unexpectedly went home to be with the Lord.

For the next ten years, the property remained untouched, but the vision never did. What seemed like a delay became part of God’s unfolding story.

Today, Word of Life is led by Pastor Joel and Peppi Sims, the son and daughter-in-law of Pastors Ronnie and Paige Sims. On April 17, 2011, the vision that had waited a decade became reality as Word of Life Lakeland opened its doors in Flowood, Mississippi.

Since then, God has continued to expand His work through additional campuses in Ridgeland, Jackson, and Hattiesburg. As our church family continues to grow, we are preparing to expand our Ridgeland campus with a larger auditorium and additional parking to better serve our community.

Word of Life is more than a collection of campuses—we are a church with a heart for our community and the nations. Through the generosity of our church family, we support ministry partners around the world while investing in local outreach initiatives that meet practical needs and share the love of Christ. Everything we do is driven by one purpose: helping people experience the life-changing hope of Jesus.
