Outreach

Serve Locally

Our first responsibility is right here in Mississippi. In 2014, we established our local outreach center, The Life Poindexter, in downtown Jackson. Through The Life Poindexter, we partner with already established ministries meeting the needs of people in our area and showing them Jesus in practical ways.  To learn more about outreach opportunities you can join, click below.

What do we do?

Our Outreach Programs provide free assistance to those in Jackson and the surrounding communities in the form of food, clothing, furniture, children’s programs, and more. This support allows families and individuals to focus on their personal growth, family health, and stability while having basic needs met on a consistent basis. We have partnered with various organizations that give us the opportunity to show the love of Jesus in many ways.

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in
Matthew 25:35

Through our Jail Outreach at CMCF, men and women can be reached, discipled, and empowered through our Life Group leaders. With weekly visits and mentorship, individuals of different demographics and backgrounds are equipped for release through enrollment in the WOLC Core Value Programs program. Serving as a bridge between those incarcerated in jail and those recovering in Celebrate Recovery, the outreach teams help build a loving community for men and women who are transitioning back into our communities. After filling out the form below, you will be sent information for a background check.

We have partnered with the City of Jackson through Keeping Jackson Beautiful with Adopt-A-Spot. With this partnership, we have ownership of three connecting streets, (Rose St., Grand Avenue and Aramadale). Through this monthly outreach, it gives us the opportunity to help keep our surrounding area at Life Poindexter looking good by picking up trash, mowing the grass, and removing fallen trees and branches.

Our community partnership with Refill Jackson Initiative will help them in their mission in empowering young adults ages 18 to 24 so that they are more confident, better equipped, and motivated to enter into, navigate, and stay in the workforce. Intentionally located in West Jackson, RJI’s training program gives young adults the time, space, and guidance to learn and practice these critical job and life skills.

In being one of the Adopters at Provine, we have partnered with the school to speak to the 9th Grade Class bi-weekly via Zoom to share encouragement and guidance through career spotlights.  You will have the opportunity to share your bio, why you chose your career and what you do specifically on the job and how it relates to the students is always needed.  If it is a career spotlight we would need to know about the career itself, what education or training is needed and how the job market looks for this area.  If it’s a motivational speaker, students will be chosen that can relate best to that topic.  And of course a question and answer session afterward. All potential volunteers must complete an application and JPS background check after filling out the form below.
